AI4Peace 2026: Call for Papers

Apr 30, 2026 | Latest news

The Pontifical Academy for Life, together with the University for Peace of the United Nations (UPEACE) – Rome Office – and the Pontifical Lateran University, is pleased to invite the submission of contributions to the AI4Peace 2026 International Call for Papers.

AI4Peace is the first Biennial Global Symposium dedicated to exploring the role of Artificial Intelligence in conflict prevention, the protection of human rights, and the promotion of peace. The initiative is based on the conviction that AI systems are not ethically neutral artefacts: design choices, datasets, and optimization objectives generate profound social consequences. Directing these choices towards peaceful ends is, before all else, a scientific challenge as much as a political one.

The symposium welcomes theoretical, empirical, methodological, and applied contributions, and particularly encourages interdisciplinary research.

Key dates:

  • Extended abstract deadline (500 words): 24 May 2026, to be sent to conference@ai4peace.ai
  • Symposium: 20–22 September 2026, Pontifical Lateran University, Rome
  • Publication: Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society (Emerald)
  • Submission portal: www.ai4peace.ai
